DEVELOPMENT PATHWAYS

Running alongside the academic timetable is our unique E.T.H.O.S program. This includes lifestyle and wellbeing development pathways covering five key areas of personal development: Enrichment, Tutoring, Health, Options and Skills.

Structured and trusting relationships between students, their peers and the academic teams build valuable social capital and have the power to create positive outcomes in terms of guidance and support.

As part of their peer coaching and academic mentoring student leadership programs Jebel Ali School Sixth Form students are given the opportunity to embrace, train and practice skills of collegiality and support.

ENRICHMENT

As they start to plan for life after school, our senior students are provided with numerous opportunities to develop relevant new skills.

Tutoring

Sixth Formers with a flair for providing academic support to younger students are encouraged to train as tutors to help with difficult subjects and with the development of the learning skills needed to flourish in class.

TUTORING

Health and Wellbeing

Our wellbeing program is designed to help students develop good health and lifestyle habits and acquire the knowledge and confidence needed to manage their physical and mental wellness now and in the future.

OPTIONS

Our Sixth Form Options and Aspirations program helps students make a well-informed and confident transition to university, an apprenticeship, or the workplace.

The journey begins in Year 9, when students are given a chance to explore pathways and careers prior to selecting their GCSE subjects. When they reach the Sixth Form an ‘Options and Aspirations Advisor’ will help them to choose the right pathways.

UNIFROG

Unifrog is our chosen online careers platform and is used by upper-Secondary and Sixth Form students to manage their Options and aspirations program.

It can be used to help make career choices, maintain records of achievement and research universities around the world. When the time comes, it also manages the university application process.

Post-16 Pathways

When the prospect of university looms, it can seem vast and potentially overwhelming – with application processes that vary from country to country.

Advisor, all committed to getting to know each student so that advice and guidance can be tailored to their needs.

We also encourage all Year 12 and Year 13 students to gain work experience and support their efforts to do so during a weekly double-lesson within their timetable. Voluntary work is particularly valuable when it’s time for university or job applications.

Industry Expert Visits

Industry Expert Visits

We are frequently visited by representatives of universities from around the world, and industry experts.

The journey begins in Year 9, when students are given a chance to explore pathways and careers prior to selecting their GCSE subjects. When they reach the Sixth Form an ‘Options and Aspirations Advisor’ will help them to choose the right pathways.

SKILLS

Preparing for life away from home at university can be unnerving, particularly for students who will be studying and living in a different country from the rest of their family.

In many cases, the coping strategy used to approach the challenge of university life can make a difference and help students to develop the courage and resourcefulness needed.

While striving to meet academic requirements is key, we believe the effort that goes into helping students prepare emotionally, mentally, and culturally also has a hand in making the transition smooth and enjoyable.
