All children joining Jebel Ali School, or transitioning from the primary to secondary phase, from September 2016 onwards must be covered by a debenture. Debentures are non-interest bearing loans paid at the start of a child’s schooling. The debenture or loan is repaid when the child leaves the school.
There are two different types of debenture:
A child nominated on a Corporate Debenture will not be placed on a waiting list but instead be guaranteed the next available school place for the year group to which they are applying.

Corporate Debentures offer a guarantee of the next available school place at a cost of AED60,000 per school place. A Corporate Debenture is purchased by a company (or private individual). The purchaser then informs the school of which individual child they would like to have covered by that Debenture. The parents of the child must complete an application form and application fee for the nominated child. The child is called to Jebel Ali School for assessment and offered a place subject to the outcome of the assessment.
When the child leaves Jebel Ali School, the company may allocate the debenture to another child, hold the debenture in reserve or apply to Jebel Ali School for return of Corporate Debenture payment at its original AED60,000 value if it is no longer required.
Jebel Ali School Corporate Debentures do not expire. The school has the option to redeem the debentures at the end of the academic year 2025/26 if it can no longer offer the guarantee of places.
Personal Debentures offer no place guarantee or priority placement on the waiting list. They are payable for all new pupils within 10 days of being offered a place.
Personal Debentures cost AED25,000 and are paid as part of the place acceptance process. When the child leaves Jebel Ali School, parents may apply to Jebel Ali School for return of the Personal Debenture payment at its original AED25,000 value.
