Dear Parents,

Next week in Year 1:

Mathematics

We will be doing Time and looking briefly at digital clocks. We will read times to the nearest hour/half hour and days of the week and months of the year. Children will be encouraged to count round a clock face in intervals of 5 minutes and we will be trying to remember time facts and our 5 x tables.

English

We will be looking at medieval kitchens and the food that they ate in olden times. We will be writing our own menus and looking at ways that the guests were entertained.

We will compare banquet food with party food today and look at the differences between them, in preparation for our ‘Castle Day’ on the 13th June.

Other

Could I please remind parents that the children will be coming to school in medieval costumes on Castle day (13th June) and I hope that you will be busy thinking of some ideas! I know that the Year 1 team are!
